General Dentistry Services for Teens

Most teenage patients know that they should be brushing their teeth at least twice a day and flossing them every night. Unfortunately, knowing and doing are two different things, and it is common for teens to let these oral hygiene habits become neglected. The best way to ensure that oral health does not suffer as the result of mediocre oral hygiene practices is with regularly scheduled professional dental cleanings. Teens should have the teeth professionally cleaned at least once every six months. These cleanings prevent the buildup of bacteria, plaque, and tartar, which can destroy healthy tooth enamel. These biannual appointments are also an ideal opportunity for our dentists to examine the teeth and gums to determine if any additional services are needed. The earlier a dental problem is detected, the easier it is to treat. Regular general dentistry care really is the foundation of any healthy smile.

Restorative Dentistry Services for Teens

With regular dental exams and cleanings, teens should be able to avoid serious oral health problems. That being said, it is normal for minor complications to develop. The most common dental problem that is faced by teens is tooth decay. As bacteria build up around the teeth, it forms a hard, sticky layer of bacterial plaque and tartar. Over time, the substance eats away at healthy tooth enamel. This deterioration of enamel is what is commonly known as tooth decay.

When tooth decay is diagnosed early, it can be easily treated with a simple dental filling. We offer tooth-colored fillings to effectively rebuild tooth structure while blending in seamlessly with the natural teeth. A tooth-colored filling can restore the strength and structure of a damaged tooth and protect it from more serious dental complications.

Teeth Straightening Treatment for Teens

The most common cosmetic issue among teens is crooked, misaligned teeth. We help our teenage patients achieve straight, beautiful teeth by offering Invisalign® treatment. This treatment relies on a series of clear, plastic aligners to gradually shift the teeth into proper alignment so that patients can enjoy an even bite and straight teeth. These aligners are virtually invisible, and are much more comfortable and convenient than traditional metal braces. Many teens prefer Invisalign® to traditional braces because they do not interfere with eating (they can be removed while a patient eats), they are easy to clean and care for, and they aren’t as obvious as metal braces. Invisalign® provides effective results in roughly the same timeframe as traditional braces.
